Jarvis: jibe at Ducati and ultimatum to Morbidelli
Yamaha team principal advises Borgo Panigale not to sing victory too soon
Ducati’s dominance in the Sepang tests does not worry Yamaha team principal Lin Jarvis too much, who sent a clear message to the Borgo Panigale teams at the microphones of Speedweek: “For the past three years, Yamaha has finished first and second in the riders’ and constructors’ standings. The results of these tests should not be overstated, because a lot depends on what you test and what time of day you do it. Almost all the riders went looking for the time attack, but in MotoGP you don’t win by doing the fastest lap in testing.”
“Because of the rain we could not evaluate and test everything,” Jarvis continued, “We have to test them again in Portimão. We will analyze all the data in detail in the coming weeks and prepare properly for the final test in Portugal.”
At Motorsport Jarvis also commented on Franco Morbidelli: “He needs good results, this is a very competitive world. With only two riders and no satellite teams, we need both centaurs to be fast. If Franco shows that he can be, there is no reason to think he won’t be with us next year.”
