Rotterdam, Jannik Sinner in final against Daniil Medvedev
Sinner defeated home favorite Griekspoor in the semifinals.
Jannik Sinner has qualified for the final of the Atp 500 tournament in Rotterdam: the Italian defeated Dutch host Tallon Griekspoor 7-5, 7-6 at the end of a hard-fought match that lasted about two hours. Thanks to this success, the South Tyrolean advances to his ninth career final on the circuit.
In the first set the serves dominated until the 12th game, when Sinner got the first break that made it 7-5 for the Azzurro. The South Tyrolean is very solid on serve in the second partial as well, but Griekspoor, supported by his audience, also plays excellent tennis, does not concede breaks and stretches the match to the tie-break. At the tie-break the tennis player from San Candido folds the tenacious Dutchman 7-5, winning the final.
Sinner will face Russian Daniil Medvedev on Sunday, who in the other semifinal easily overcame Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-2. For Jannik, this is the second final in a 500 in his career: the first he won in Washington against McDonald in August 2021.
