Virtus in the finals, Scariolo: “Abass? It’s a good feeling.”
Bologna coach praises his team after victory against Tortona
Virtus Bologna’s clean win against Tortona in the Italian Cup semifinal played in Turin. The V Nere imposed themselves with a peremptory 90-65, and after the game coach Sergio Scariolo complimented: “I’m happy with the way the team played on both sides of the court. Right approach on defense and on offense we gave 20 assists apart from Milos’, that’s a very high number. We respect Tortona a lot, they work very well and gave us more than one headache in the last year and a half. But this time we played a complete game, with rebound control and clear ideas. Now there is the final, Virtus has been missing for a long time, let’s try to win it.”
On Abass’ performance: “He’s giving us a hand, we try not to let him overdo it, we don’t want to take avoidable risks. He is a physical player and plays with heart. We believe he can play at the European level, for now he misses a lot, but it will come. And in the back he is already giving us a good hand. Having an extra outfielder who can play in two positions is a good feeling.”
Shengelia: “He is finally in a condition to play well. He has had a series of misfortunes one after another, and he is a key player for us. He has just recently been in optimal condition to give the same energy on the dui sides of the court. We really missed him not only when he was gone but also in the months when he was 50 percent. Now he is well and it shows. We have to be able to dose him in the right way.”
