Marcell Jacobs beaten in Ancona: surprise win for Samuele Ceccarelli
Day to forget for Marcell Jacobs. The Italian sprinter missed his appointment with victory in Ancona in the 60-meter final of the Italian Indoor Championships, being mocked by a hundredth by Tuscany’s Samuele Ceccarelli. But that’s not all: Jacobs also had to deal with an injury, as witnessed by his words.
“Obviously it burns because it is the first Italian title I lose after I don’t know how many years, but I will never stop putting myself on the line,” he commented to the Fidal microphones at the end of the race. “There are still a lot of technical things to fix, in the battery I had a totally different race. I have to review the final, but if there had been a 100 meters I would have stopped. I was in a running condition that showed a problem somewhere, I would like to understand where, it did not allow me to continue running. We have to work. We have to review the different parts and figure out where the problem is. Now overhead is the European indoor championships, a stepping stone to the outdoor season.”
