Italbasket unveils new uniforms

On Monday, February 20, in the presence of the top management of the Italian Basketball Federation, the new uniforms of the Italian national basketball teams, made by FIP’s new technical partner Macron, were presented. The presentation took place inside the headquarters of the Bologna-based company, in front of the federal president Gianni Petrucci, the technical commissioner of the men’s national team Gianmarco Pozzecco and other personalities of Italian basketball.

“The Maglia Azzurra has a very high symbolic value in all sports,” said Petrucci. “It represents our colors, our country and above all it is in the dreams and imagination of every little girl and boy who approaches any sport. Nowadays it is also a tool through which the Federations tell their story by projecting into the future with cutting-edge design and materials.” Petrucci went on to explain the gold details on the undershirts, “Gold embellishes the 2023 undershirts, the year in which we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1983 European Championship victory in Nantes.”

In addition to Petrucci and Pozzecco, the event was attended by Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, Giovanni Perosino, Chief Marketing Officer of ITA Airways (official sponsor of the Italian National Basketball Teams), as well as the athletes of the men’s national team, who will make their debut with the new uniforms in Livorno against Ukraine on Thursday, Feb. 23. Also present were Cecilia Zandalasini, representing the Women’s National Team, and Rae D’Alie for the 3×3 Azzurre.
