Jannik Sinner raises white flag and retires
The words of Jannik Sinner
Last-minute forfeit for Jannik Sinner, who withdrew from the Atp 250 Marseille when everything was ready for his round of 16 match against France’s Arthur Fils.
The South Tyrolean, fresh from his triumph at the ATP 250 in Montpellier and the final he lost to Daniil Medvedev at the ATP 500 in Rotterdam, raised the white flag, aided by fatigue accumulated in recent weeks.
“After my last match in the Netherlands, I started not feeling well,” he explained to L’Equipe. “In the last few days, I had no energy left. I couldn’t train in the best way. I had a bit of a fever. We waited until the last moment before making a decision. Unfortunately, my body is not in the right state.”
