Mercedes in trouble in Bahrain: action coming soon
The concern is there, and the team’s decisions confirm this.
Mercedes in big trouble on the second day of Formula 1 testing in Bahrain, with George Russell setting the 13th fastest time (and stopped by a hydraulic problem) and Lewis Hamilton even 15th. Very disappointing results, so much so that the Anglo-German team took immediate action.
As ‘Auto Motor und Sport’ discovered, in fact, Mercedes’ day did not end at the end of the Sakhir tests. Indeed, Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, summoned the two drivers and several engineers for a meeting not scheduled in the calendar. With him, Hamilton and Russell, technical director Andrew Shovlin also stopped by. The latter himself admitted that difficulties exist.
“This day was not the best, stopping for reliability problems never is. Plus we have problems finding the right balance in variable conditions. We have already started investigations to understand the reasons why we struggled so much today,” the Mercedes technical director later explained.
