Blue fencing to applause in Egypt and Germany

Important results for blue fencing in CdM

Important results are coming in for Italian fencing from the platforms of Cairo, Egypt, and Heidenheim, Germany, which are hosting World Cup events this weekend.

In Cairo, it was a triumphant Saturday for the Italian foil team led by coach Stefano Cerioni, with no less than four podiums won on Saturday: a double in the women’s event, with Martina Favaretto’s first victory in the rainbow circuit and Martini Batini’s second place, but two medals also came from the men’s competition with Tommaso Marini’s second place and Davide Filippi’s third.

In Germany, however, excellent second place for Italy in the men’s team epee. The team composed of Andrea Santarelli, Gabriele Cimini, Davide Di Veroli and Valerio Cuomo offered a fine show of strength, stopping only in the very final, 45-38, against world champion France.
