Despite the knockout, the growth is there, but it must not stop.

Michele Lamaro speaks clearly to Italrugby after the defeat against Ireland on the third day of the Six Nations. And the Italy captain explains that congratulations are not enough in the face of defeat. “Regret is always there – indeed, he emphasizes to ‘Sky Sport’ – We do not take the field to perform well and that’s all. The goal is always performance, because we know that through good performances we can get to what we want. But what we want is victory. But I think that today I cannot ask more from the boys regarding the desire and heart put on the field.”

“What we want is to perform to the best of our ability. And I think we did that today at times,” Lamaro added, “but at times we let something slip. Once again we made the mistake of conceding too much in the first minutes of the game, and that’s something we wanted to improve on.”

So there is the message to the team as we look ahead to the upcoming fixtures. “We have to start turning the page and improving on the things we tell ourselves, because we still concede too many points in general. If you concede 34 points to Ireland it means you have to score 35 to win. We have to start changing this mentality, because a blackout can cost us dearly. And we saw that today,” is Lamaro’s analysis.
