Carlos Alcaraz admitted some physical problems with two weeks to go before his return

More than the defeat in the final of the Atp tournament in Rio de Janeiro against Cameron Norrie, it is another aspect that worries Carlos Alcaraz: the suggestion created by the pain felt, for a few moments, in the same muscle injured in January, a knockout that had forced him to skip the Australian Open, the first slam of 2023.

“The calendar is very challenging,” the Murcian said on the sidelines of the final lost in Brazil. I’ve been back playing at the highest level for two weeks and I’ve never stopped. If you are on the court and you notice a problem you try to prevent it: you call the masseur, you get your leg bandaged. I felt pain in the same muscle where I had my last injury, although I still tried to play to the best of my ability.”

Alcaraz succumbed to Norrie in three sets: after winning the first 7-5, the Murcian was outlasted 4-6 in the second set and 5-7 in the deciding fraction.
