Gineitis: “I cried a lot.”

A few days ago Gvidas Gineitis signed his new contract expiring in 2026: “I am very happy to be in the first team: in Primavera I was doing normal training, when Juric called me I showed that I can be among the big boys and I did the winter training camp,” the midfielder told Torino Channel.

“The coach trusts me: I want to give everything on the field. I was impressed by the speed of my teammates and then I saw up close the players I used to watch on TV, it’s beautiful. I fit in well here, I was calm at the first first team training and didn’t talk to anyone. Then I started to socialize and I have many friends. The first one was Schuurs, then Ilkhan and Aina, the players who speak English.”

Gineitis then recounted his landing in Italy from Lithuania, “It was very difficult, I cried a lot…I knew I was coming back only after several months, it was complicated. My mom Sandra also cried a lot, I have a sister and a brother: last month they came to visit me, I was very happy to see my family again.”

“My idol is Frenkie De Jong, I like the way he moves and because he can see the whole field-I am inspired by him. I follow basketball, when I go back to Lithuania I play it with my friends,” concluded the Grenadian midfielder.
