Monza returns to success, 2-1 at Empoli
Monza returns to success, 2-1 at Empoli
The first real excitement comes when Empoli goes in on goal with Satriano, but the Var cancels. It is valid, however, the goal of the lead of Palladino’s team; Ciurria scores it with a conclusion that does not seem irresistible, but that Perisan fails to neutralize. Not much happens then in the first half of the game, but when the restart comes Empoli puts the Brianzoli on the ropes and deservedly reaches the equalizer with Satriano, scoring with a header.
Palladino shuffles the cards, removing Sensi and a strangely opaque Carlos Augusto to insert Machin and Carboni. The first corner taken by the biancorossi is fatal for the Tuscans: Izzo jumps higher than anyone and scores the 2-1 goal.
Empoli tries to react, Zanetti throws first Pjaca and then Piccoli into the fray, Akpa-Akpro tries from distance, but Di Gregorio is alert and says no. In the final Empoli laid siege to Monza, which, however, managed to hold, though risking, and in the final went close to 3-1 with Carboni on a counterattack.
