Novak Djokovic: last try for Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000s
Novak Djokovic is in danger of missing the two major tournaments
The issue related to the special exemption that would allow Novak Djokovic to play the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000 tournaments still holds sway in the United States. The latest attempt is being pursued by two Republican senators, Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, who have signed a document requesting an exemption for the Serbian directly to U.S. President Joe Biden.
“We were told that the Department of Health would deny Djokovic a special exemption,” Scott wrote on Twitter, showing the signed document. “This way he could not play in either California or Florida. We ask President Biden to resolve this situation immediately.”
The timing, meanwhile, is getting tighter and tighter: the Indian Wells tournament kicks off next March 8, while in Miami it starts two weeks later.
