F1, Toto Wolff harsh: “Nothing to save”
The outspoken Austrian: “Red Bull from another planet. Aston Martin second force.”
The first Gp of the season immediately allowed Red Bull to demonstrate its superiority over its rivals with an unchallenged one-two. Good news also from Aston Martin with excellent third and sixth places from Alonso and Stroll. Bad weekend, on the other hand, for Mercedes, which immediately showed that it was still behind the other top teams. At the end of the race the team principal of the Brackley-based stable Toto Wolff spoke, who wanted to analyze the performance of the car during this first race.
“There is nothing positive that can be saved about this race. We lacked pace and the drivers were forced to push harder than they should have and because of that we had several problems with tire degradation. Red Bull proved to be from another planet than everyone else. Aston Martin had a fantastic weekend and confirmed itself as the second force in the championship. Today must be a wake-up call for us. We definitely have to do better starting with the next race,” these were the words of the Viennese team principal to the microphones of Sky Sports UK.
