Filippo Ganna celebrates
Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) won the first stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico Crédit Agricole, an 11.5-kilometer individual time trial with start and finish in Lido di Camaiore.
Lennard Kämna (Bora – Hansgrohe) and Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers) posted the second and third best times at the finish. Thanks to this result, Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) wears the first Maglia Azzurra as leader of the General Classification. “I’m very happy with this wonderful performance,” said the Piedmontese rider. “After winning the Strade Bianche with Thomas Pidcock, we also started the Tirreno-Adriatico in the best way. I have already achieved podiums in this early season but without managing to win so today’s result is crucial for my morale, also in anticipation of the Classics.”
