The announcement came directly from the organizers of the tournaments

Djokovic has been forced to forfeit the Indian Wells tournament and will have to do the same for the other Masters 1000, namely the one in Miami. The Serb, as reported by Ansa, cannot enter the United States because he is not vaccinated against Covid (until next May 11, regulations require vaccination for those coming to the United States from abroad).

Despite requests in recent weeks to have a special pass to be able to play tournaments on American soil, the world number 1 had to take no from the organizers who have not changed their minds on the matter. So, for Djokovic, no Indian Wells and, in two weeks, no Miami. A hard blow for the Serb, who is looking for the best condition and, above all, to keep the title of world number 1.
