Lazio’s road to the Conference League definitely goes uphill. Maurizio Sarri’s side, fresh from their league success at home to leading Napoli, succumbed at the Stadio Olimpico to AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the round of 16 of the continental tournament.
The Biancoceleste eleven, which had taken the lead through Spaniard Pedro, was caught up before halftime by Greek Pavlidis and conceded a second goal by Magyar Kerkez in the second half.
