Tirreno-Adriatico, third stage to Philipsen. Ganna in command
The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider finished first in Foligno.
Jasper Philipsen won the third stage of the 58th Tirreno-Adriatico Crédit Agricole, the 216-kilometer Follonica-Foligno. The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider beat Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Biniam Girmay (Intermarché – Circus – Wanty) in a sprint.
Filippo Ganna remains at the head of the general classification, 28 seconds ahead of Lennard Kämna (Bora – Hansgrohe) and 30 ahead of Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers).
“I had lost the lead for a moment during the fans but my teammates managed to pull me back in,” Ganna said after the finish. I’m still leader of the overall fortunately. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
