Yamaha, for Fabio Quartararo it’s surrender: ‘We’re not ready for the debut’
Words that sound like surrender when the start of the championship is getting closer and closer.
Fabio Quartararo no longer trusts his Yamaha, and after another difficult test Saturday in Portimao he speaks all too clearly. “For the first MotoGP race of the season we will definitely not be ready,” was in fact his admission at the end of the day.
“I’m not 100 percent sure yet, because I still have hope to find some solutions tomorrow. Right now, though, I don’t feel ready, and I’m not comfortable on the bike. This was the first time I rode without even checking the top speeds. There is a lot of work to be done,” Quartararo explained.
What worries the Frenchman most is not being able to understand the source of his Yamaha’s problems. “If I don’t say it, it’s not because I don’t want to talk about it. I really don’t know what the problem is. Apparently there is nothing wrong,” Quartararo revealed. “Even in the pits I said I felt like I was riding someone else’s bike and having to adapt to it. I feel uncomfortable in any aspect except braking. Speed, stability, coming out of corners go wrong, and it’s hard to take advantage of the tires.”
