Dorothea Wierer daydreams after Oestersund
Dorothea Wierer’s words
Dorothea Wierer clutches tightly to herself the cup reserved for the winner of the women’s mass start in Oestersund. The financier won the two individual races held in the Swedish stage and leaves the location so dear to her with the second place achieved in the overall standings.
“I am very happy,” she explains, “I did not have good feelings in the warm-up as often happens to me, but the main goal was to shoot well at the range, where the races are often decided, and so I did. In this period I am very focused on myself, I had a good train with the two Frenchwomen who are very fit, the comparison was tantalizing. I came out of the last polygon in the lead and I was sure that they would catch them because they are strong in the last lap, I had to avoid getting together with them at the finish line because they would beat me, so I tried to put all the energy I had in my body on the track, and maybe even more. I have reached a point in my career where I prefer to work on quality and no longer so much on quantity, rest is important and sometimes more useful than an hour on skis. I still don’t look at the World Cup ranking, Simon’s points lead over me and Lisa Vittozzi is quite a lot, he deserves the win. I am however satisfied with my season, whatever final placings come will not change my balance sheet one iota.”
