Indian Wells, bitter elimination for Martina Trevisan
Indian Wells: Trevisan eliminated by Muchova
Martina Trevisan’s adventure in the WTA 1000 Indian Wells WTA ends in the round of 16: the Italian surrendered to Czech tennis player Muchova in three sets (4-6-6-3 4-6).
In the first set Trevisan struggled a lot on serve but fought and with class she hung on until 4-5 when she lost the serve again and handed the set to Muchova. The Italian’s reaction comes on time in the second set: on 3-3 Martina operates a surgical break that she replicates in the last game, winning the final 6-3, thus dragging the challenge to the decisive set, with the inertia in her favor. In fact, Trevisan starts well and stays ahead in the score but fails to take advantage of more than one break point conceded by her opponent. Muchova, on the other hand, is cynical in the decisive moment: on 4-4 she snatches the serve from the Italian number one and goes to serve for the match, closing 6-4 after more than two and a half hours of play.
Trevisan must thus bid farewell to the Indian Wells tournament, while Muchova awaits the winner of the match between Jabeur and Vondrousova.
