The words of Pecco Bagnaia

Pecco Bagnaia spoke to Motorsport after the two days in Portimao: “I’m happy, because we worked a lot in these five days of testing before the start of the season and things always worked a little bit better. Today we came to understand that I like the new bike better than the old one, because it fits my style even more. I can do a little bit of everything I want to do, both with new tires and used tires, so I’m very happy with these tests and I think we’re ready to start.”

“We are very competitive and I in my head would have liked to do a 1’37″8. But I missed the exit of the 8, because I anticipated it a little too much and I had a bump on the exit. It’s okay anyway, also because in the afternoon it was harder to go fast than this morning because it was more windy. Everything went very well, though, both the time attack and the two Sprint Race events.”

He closed on the title race: “Honestly, tests are always something to figure out, because you never know what the others are trying. I don’t feel like the favorite, because this is not a race weekend. If it was a Grand Prix instead I would say yes, that tomorrow we would be ready to fight for the win, but right now I’m just focused on trying to improve our situation again. Yamaha took a big step forward today. They improved in both time-attack and pace, although they were still not at our level. Also, Fabio was very fast in the Sprint Race simulation. In my opinion Honda is really trying so many things, so when they have outlined everything I am convinced they will be able to stay further ahead. Enea and Marini were also very fast, but in testing it is always very difficult to figure out the values. If I have to say three names, though, I say Enea, Quartararo and Marquez.”
