Federico Pellegrin out

Nicole Monsorno made it through the qualifying round at the women’s World Cup classic technique sprint in Drammen, Norway. The 23-year-old finisher from Varena, passed the cut-off stage with the 15th time, just behind the U.S. Jesse Diggins.

The best of this first stage turned out to be the two Norwegians Kristine Skistad and Hedda Amudsen, ahead of Sweden’s Jonna Sundling and the other Norwegian Tiril Weng.

In the men’s race, Simone Mocellini nimbly won the qualification, thanks to his eighth time at 3″49 from usual Johannes Klaebo. Behind the formidable host was Frenchman Jules Chappaz and the other Norwegian Even Northug. Out surprisingly was Federico Pellegrino, 43rd time at 10″91 from Klaebo, as well as Alessandro Chiocchetti 47th.
