Here are the words released by Sofia Goggia to FISI TV, the official channel of the Italian Winter Sports Federation. The 31-year-old star from Bergamo, victim in training of yet another injury, a tibia fracture, which made her miss the last part of last season, already has big goals in the short and medium term.

“I have to think about my recovery and getting back to 100 percent even with my foot, then we will set microcycle goals that will then allow us to embark on a long-term path. The ’goal è always to ski as hard as possible, because é è my job, my craft, my passion: I love to ski hard.

“We will have to see if this injury will leave a mental aftermath, because é the risk with these injuries è always that. The season è still far away, there are so many months of athletic preparation and I am ready to face them with the knowledge that I am doing a right and suitable path to be able to be at the top”.

“The Olympics in Italy is the most beautiful thing that could happen to us Italian athletes. I think it will be an event where we can see the’apotheosis of skiing and I hope to get there able to play for medals. I have always said that at the Olympics there are those who go there on vacation and those on a mission, and I’ve always liked to be on a mission. The first two went well with a gold and a silver and we hope to return to the level of the first Olympics”.
