Berardi knocks out Spezia: Sassuolo wins fourth in a row
A victory by the narrowest of margins, allowing them to momentarily move to -2 points behind seventh-place Juventus.
Sassuolo beats Spezia 1-0 and picks up its fourth consecutive win in Serie A. The Emiliani are momentarily tenth in the standings, but -2 from seventh place that could mean Conference League. Decisive Domenico Berardi, eternal flag of the neroverde team.
The evening at the Mapei Stadium begins with some headaches for Sassuolo: the first rings of the match are in fact from Spezia and bear the signatures of Ekdal and Caldara. Then the pace slows down, to suddenly re-accelerate in the last ten minutes of the first half. Berardi himself is a great protagonist, first hitting a crossbar with a great left-footed shot from the distance and then with a conclusion just wide.
At the beginning of the second half Rogerio warms Dragowski’s gloves, Spezia tries to react with Agudelo and Nzola but suffers the greater verve of the hosts. And in fact on Laurentié’s attempt comes Amian’s hand in the box. It was a penalty, which Berardi converted in the 71st minute. In the final comes a second post, hit by Harroui, certifying the good performance of Alessio Dionisi’s lineup.
