Indian Wells, Jannik Sinner in semifinals: now Carlos Alcaraz
Second semifinal in a Masters 1000 for the Italian
Sinner did not disappoint and continued his path in Indian Wells. The South Tyrolean managed to eliminate Fritz at the end of a hard-fought match, won by the Italian in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-4 the partials). Sinner did not lose concentration when the ball started to get hot, thus sending the defending U.S. champion to the mat.
For Sinner, this is the second semifinal of his young career in a Masters 1000 and he is virtually close to returning to the Top 10 in the ATP rankings. He will now face Alcaraz, who, in the other quarterfinal match, beat Canadian Auger-Aliassime in two sets (6-4, 6-4). The Spaniard is on course to return to No. 1 in the world. To do so he will have to overcome the Sinner hurdle.
