Juventus needs only Kostic: Inter knockout

Filip Kostic’s goal was enough for Juventus to beat Inter: the Serbian scored in the 23rd minute and Inzaghi’s band failed to overturn the result.

Inter got off to a strong start and came close to taking the lead through Barella, then Juventus was adept at taking advantage of the first real chance conceded by the Nerazzurri: Rabiot controlled the ball and served Kostic on the edge of the box who pierced Onana with his left-footed shot. The goal was validated after a VAR check for an alleged hand foul by Rabiot.

In the second half, Inzaghi tried to turn the result around with changes but Barella, replaced shortly after an hour by Mkhitaryan, did not take the coach’s decision well and kicked a billboard. The Armenian himself in the final minutes had a chance to equalize but his shot finished just wide. In the final minutes tempers ran high: D’Ambrosio and Paredes exchanged unkind words; Chiffi ejected both.
