F1, twist in the case Fernando Alonso

Rather surreal what happened to Fernando Alonso: the driver finished the Jeddah Grand Prix in third position but after the 10-second penalty was relegated to fourth place.

Subsequently, however, the FIA decided to retrace its steps and handed Fernando Alonso back the 100th podium of his career. A rather unique handling of the case.

After the penalty, the driver had harshly criticized the decision: “Giving a penalty after the podium and at thirty-five laps after the pit stop is a bad figure on the part of the FIA. Formula 1 fans do not deserve such a spectacle. Knowing this beforehand would have allowed me to open a gap, instead not even the investigation was communicated. In the end, however, it doesn’t change that much for us: we go from 15 to 12 points gained.”
