Mikaela Shiffrin wins last race of the season
Mikaela Shiffrin closes as master: the U.S. star won the last race of the season, the women’s giant slalom at the Soldeu Finals, edging out Norway’s Thea Louise Stjernesund and Canada’s Valerie Grenier by 6 hundredths.
Sixth was Marta Bassino, who finished 69 hundredths ahead: the Azzurra consoled herself with third place overall in the World Cup Giant Slalom rankings, behind Mikaela Shiffrin and Lara Gut-Behrami. Out went Federica Brignone.
The U.S. champion’s World Cup victories thus total 88 at the end of the season.
