Alex Marquez has no doubts: “We in Ducati all equal.”
A very clear message ahead of the start of the championship.
Alex Marquez is one of the Ducati men who will take to the track in the 2023 MotoGP championship, and he does not intend to be outdone by his colleagues in the factory team. In fact, the Catalan speaks clearly on Thursday in Portimao, emphasizing that for the Borgo Panigale factory, each rider starts with the same possibilities compared to his colleagues.
“In Ducati there are no distinctions between the eight riders on the track,” says Marquez. “The mentality is clear, the only important thing is that one of the DesmosediciGPs wins. It is no coincidence that I homologated the last fairing that Pecco Bagnaia used, the one from Valencia 2022.”
Alex Marquez does not even believe he is paying for the fact that he will take part in this championship with last year’s Ducati. “In some aspects, having the 2022 bike is negative,” the Catalan emphasizes. “But there are also positive aspects, such as having done an easier job during testing.
“This my first year in Ducati is impossible to compare to my first year in Honda. I feel much more relaxed now, so much so that this has been my best winter since I have been in MotoGP. My point of reference is the data of Bagnaia, who has something more than the rest of us and it shows. You can tell he handles the bike perfectly,” is Marquez’s conclusion.
