No dice. Sonego’s path to the Miami Masters 1000 stopped in the round of 16. The Italian surrendered, in fact, to Cerundolo at the end of a match that exceeded two hours of play. After winning the first set brilliantly (6-3), the Azure suffered a comeback by the Argentine who won the next two partials: 6-3, 6-2, thus clinching the quarters of the tournament (last year he played the semifinals in Miami).
Sonego is left with the satisfaction of having played an excellent tournament that allows him to return to the ATP Top 50. Cerundolo, in the quarterfinals, will face Kachanov, who surprisingly eliminated Tsitsipas.
