The return of Sebastian Vettel

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack admitted in an interview with the F1 Nation podcast that he had thought about recalling Sebastian Vettel: “I was tempted, yes, 100 percent, but we didn’t do it because we have great respect for Sebastian, and with the decision he made last year to retire I think it wouldn’t have been fair to ask him. We wanted to respect his choice, and we didn’t want to put him in a difficult position.”

“We kept in touch and he was a gentleman by congratulating us on our first podium in Bahrain. We told him that this podium was also thanks to him, because it really took us a step forward from the previous two years. He made us grow in many areas where we learned a lot, so he definitely has his part in where we are now. Through it all he was comfortable with the decision he made to retire. He did not feel regretful about the choice, and I think the respect between him, the team and between me really showed through this great moment. It was very much appreciated and I conveyed that to the whole team,” he concluded.
