Pecco Bagnaia tries to remain optimistic

It was not the easiest of Fridays for Pecco Bagnaia in Argentina: the world champion, in fact, did not go beyond sixth place overall in the combined free practice standings and, while comfortably earning a place in Q2, he set a best lap more than four tenths slower than Aleix Espargaró’s Aprilia.

In any case, Bagnaia tries to remain optimistic: “It was a positive day all in all and I’m satisfied with our work,” he told official Ducati Lenovo Team channels. Compared to Portimao, where we had two days of testing before the race weekend, here we did not start in the best of conditions. The time available to fine-tune the bike is not much, but we still managed to do a good job.”

On the outlook for Saturday, the Piedmontese rider added, “On used tires my pace is competitive and we are not far from the leaders. Tomorrow it will be very important to be able to run again on used tires to try to make an additional step, and in qualifying it will be crucial to be able to secure a position in the first two rows of the starting grid.”
