Formula 1 CEO and growing popularity: ‘Everyone wants one’

Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali in an interview with SportNXT talked about the great moment of popularity that the premier racing class is experiencing.

“We could have more than 30, even 32 Grand Prix already today, because everyone wants one,” Domenicali revealed. Already this season, F1 will record a record number of Grands Prix: “If it were not for the existing agreements, this year’s calendar could have reached a much higher figure than the maximum 24 races allowed.”

The real boom has occurred in the United States: “Three years ago we didn’t know whether we should stay while now a third of the people who go to see a race do so for the first time.”
