Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta on introducing sprint race: “The riders are against it, but they will understand”

Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta in an interview with Repubblica.it vindicated his decision to introduce sprint races in MotoGp: “They give thrills to the World Championship, Valentino Rossi would have put on a show.”

“At the beginning, even my friend Valentino complained,” Ezpeleta explained, “but then he always agreed with me. I’m 76 years old, the secret of life is to always change, never stand still. If you don’t adapt, you don’t improve. You don’t survive.”

According to Ezpeleta, “the riders, to this day, protest and maybe they are not enthusiastic about it, but they too will adapt as time goes by to this new format. As I said, we had to change because otherwise we would never survive. The sprint race gives thrills to the world championship, I’m sure it will get better and better.”
