Valencia hosts Virtus on Thursday night

Valencia and Virtus Bologna face each other Thursday night in a challenge that no longer gives up points useful for qualification (both teams are arithmetically already out of the playoffs) but remains prestigious for the continental context.

For coach Alex Mumbrú and his team it will be the last home challenge of the regular season: “Even though both teams are already out of the playoffs we have to take advantage of this match to improve our game a little bit,” he said. “Virtus is a very physical team, we will have to be good at controlling their game, defend solidly and try to impose the pace, not disdaining speed.

The 43-year-old coach, a world and European champion as a player, is relying heavily on the court factor: “We deserve to finish the Euroleague well,” he said, “we are playing at home and we want to try to give our fans a victory.
