Valentino Rossi: Carlos Checa is still impressed (and grateful)

Carlos Checa returns to Valentino Rossi’s beginnings at Yamaha

Former MotoGp rider Carlos Checa in an interview with Dazn microphones recalled the arrival at Yamaha of Valentino Rossi, his teammate in 2004.

“We did not believe that Valentino Rossi was capable of winning with Yamaha,” Checa confessed, “and instead he succeeded immediately. For me it was also a lesson because we had limitations on the bike and we had fallen asleep a little bit, but Valentino came with energy, in his best moment.”

“For me it was a lesson and I got on very well with Valentino. He was a very transparent person, very competitive, had enormous skills and above all a great mentality. I have a great relationship with him and it was great to share pits and experiences with one of the best riders ever.”
