Fabio Fognini, no Monte Carlo: “I’m really devastated.”
Fabio Fognini announces forfeit
Fabio Fognini will not be at the starting ribbons of the Monte Carlo ATP tournament, an event the Ligurian tennis player holds dear, not least because he won his first and so far only career Masters 1000 in the Principality.
“I have to communicate with great regret that I will not be able to participate in the Monte Carlo tournament,” Fognini, himself, wrote on Instagram. Unfortunately, the foot injury suffered in Estoril does not allow me to play. In the coming days I will find out the extent of it.”
“I am really devastated,” added the Ligurian athlete, who also boasts a doubles final in Monte Carlo with Simone Bolelli, lost to twins Bob and Mike Bryan in 2015. You know how much I love the Monte Carlo tournament. I thank the organizers for the invitation and hope to be back on the court soon.
