Penalty kicks were decisive, rewarding the Europeans over the South Americans.

The ‘Finalissima’ played at Wembley between the women’s national soccer teams of England and Brazil was spectacular. The challenge between the champions of Europe and those of South America was won by England: penalty kicks were decisive.

The regulation time had ended 1-1: Ella Ann Toone put her team ahead in the first half. It seemed that the English, protagonists of a great first half, could run rampant. However, this was not the case: having rearranged their minds at halftime, Brazil in fact returned to the field highly motivated.

The Greenoro selection eventually equalized. Making it 1-1, in the dying minutes, was Andressa. From the penalty spot, however, the English were more accurate. After Toone’s own mistake, in fact, for Brazil Tamires and Rafaelle Souza missed the conversion.
