F1, Lewis Hamilton sibylline on future in Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton: “I love F1 but don’t drive uncompetitive cars”
The weight of an entire season without success is not mitigated by a complex start to 2023, even at the level of internal hierarchies: factors that are leading Lewis Hamilton to think very carefully about his future in Mercedes, as he himself hinted, hissily, in an interview with ‘Fox Sports’ on the sidelines of the Australian F1 World Championship weekend.
“I really love Formula 1, but I don’t like to drive uncompetitive cars,” said the seven-time world champion, who earned his first podium finish of the season in Australia by finishing second behind Max Verstappen at the end of a race with a thousand twists and turns.
“I feel ready to win another World Championship, I have prepared myself as best I can and if the right car arrives tomorrow I will be ready to fight for the title. But that is not, at least for now, the reality of the situation. I’m still working on the track and with the team to succeed.”
