Roma, Paulo Dybala’s penalty is enough in Torino: it’s third place
A narrow victory, which is worth third place in the standings.
Roma ran away in Turin, where the Giallorossi won 1-0 over the Granata formation, guaranteeing themselves overtaking Milan. In fact, Paulo Dybala’s goal early in the match allows José Mourinho’s team to move up to 53 points in the standings, one more than the 52 of the meneghini, who drew at the San Siro against Empoli on Friday.
Torino seemed to get off to a strong start in the first few minutes, but Roma went ahead at the first opportunity: it happened in the 8th minute, when Dybala was glacial in converting the penalty awarded for Schuurs’ arm deflection in the box (Zalewski had tried from distance). The granata reacted with Rodriguez who grazed the post with a volley from outside the box, but then it was the guests who made themselves dangerous again with Cristante, Zalewski and El Shaarawy. At the end of the half again Dybala inspired, closed at the most beautiful however by the home defense.
At the beginning of the second half Torino came close to equalizing with a great header by Miranchuk, on which Rui Patricio was providential. Roma claimed a second penalty, which, however, Var denied, then closed in defensively, forcing Juric to a pinwheel of changes that did not straighten out the game, however. Only Pellegri put the Giallorossi goalkeeper in slight apprehension, then repeated himself just seconds before the 90th minute: Smalling’s save was decisive.
