A new attack, complete with figures bound to cause discussion.

“Mick Schumacher has cost us $2 million in accident damage.” This was stated by Gunther Steiner, team principal of Haas, who over time many times was harsh on the young German driver before his replacement at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

Steiner has decided to recount his recent experiences in the Circus in the book ‘Surviving to Drive,’ of which the Brits of ‘The Times’ have published some previews. Here stand out the Haas boss’s new attacks on Mick Schumacher, which are bound to cause discussion.

The son of the seven-time world champion has come into Steiner’s crosshairs in particular for incidents in Saudi Arabia, Monte Carlo and Japan. The latter case, in particular, concerns Free Practice 1 held at Suzuka in 2022. “His accident happened on the bloody comeback lap! The track was very wet, but no other driver managed to destroy his car during the re-entry lap,” the Haas team principal said about Mick Schumacher.

“I can’t deal with a driver who is unable to bring the car back to the pits intact during a slow lap. It is simply a ridiculous issue. How many people could I have put under contract with $700,000?” was Steiner’s conclusion. The latter reference is to the damage cost of that specific Schumacher accident.
