Dall’Igna and the sketch of the perfect Ducatista: message to Bagnaia
Ducati Corse director: “A true champion motivates the entire company.”
Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna in an interview with Speedweek sketched the identikit of the perfect Ducati rider: “To win a World Championship he must be fast, intelligent, able to manage races and take risks, but not too many.”
“True champions have charisma-sometimes a rider makes the mistake that his team consists only of the seven elements working in the box, but that is not the case. The rider is one of the 100 employees of Ducati Corse, that is his team, and he has to motivate everyone by having a positive attitude because people need that. He has to remember that they all work for him.”
“I usually choose riders by looking at their path from Moto3 onward,” explained Dall’Igna: Bastianini had fantastic races and so did Bagnaia, who was riding the Mahindra. He didn’t have the best bike of the lot but he kept trying, didn’t look for excuses and just did his best.”
