Hubert Hurkacz takes a step toward Jannik Sinner
Hurkacz beats Draper: possible eighth with Sinner
Hubert Hurkacz won the last scheduled match Tuesday at the Monte Carlo ATP Masters 1000: the Pole defeated, not without some too much difficulty, Britain’s Jack Draper, 6-3, 6(3)-7, 7-5 in two and a half hours of play, thus advancing to the second round of the tournament.
There could be, therefore, precisely Hurkacz on Jannik Sinner’s way to the round of 16 of the tournament in the Principality: for the match to come to life, however, the South Tyrolean will first have to defeat Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman, not an easy opponent on clay.
The challenge between Sinner and Schwartzman is scheduled no earlier than 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday: the only previous meeting between the two dates back to 2021 in Antwerp (cement), and it was the Italian who smiled, winning 6-2, 6-2.
