Givova Scafati counters and also calls out a Brindisi player
Givova Scafati counters.
Givova Scafati, in relation to the events that took place during and following the game against Happy Casa Brindisi on April 11, through a note “intends to emphasize how some provocative acts and conduct of card-carrying members created a state of tension in the public.”
“It is also proper to note that a member of the Brindisi team, moreover a former player, was the protagonist of offensive and provocative conduct throughout the entire match, culminating in the serious gesture, re-entering the court after already having gained the tunnel to the locker room, of throwing a full bottle toward the public that, only by fortunate coincidence, had no consequences; or again, that another member of the visiting club, again at the end of the match, indulged in seriously offensive and vulgar gestures toward the parterre, all of which, moreover, was documented by video footage, which has already been made available to ordinary and sports investigators,” it reads.
“In the course of so many years of passionate follow-through in arenas throughout Italy, the Scafatese fans have never been the protagonists of any episode, attitude or violent or racist conduct, distinguishing themselves on the contrary for their warmth, fairness and passion,” the note further reads: a single, isolated albeit execrable expression, which had to be heard from audio broadcast in the area adjacent to the sports palace well after the end of the match, while the visiting delegation was leaving the structure and which is firmly condemned, in no way can brand a fan base. All this being said, Givova Scafati in the persons of the ownership, management and sponsors and partners strongly condemn and distance themselves from all forms of violence and racism, reiterating the values of loyalty and inclusion that have always animated the entire association. At the same time, the leaders of the club are already working, in close contact with law enforcement, to identify the perpetrator, against whom, in wishing severity of sanction, we reserve all possible judicial action to protect.”
