Lorenzo Sonego after the knockout with Medvedev: “I struggled a lot.”

Lorenzo Sonego commented disappointedly on his defeat in Monte Carlo against Daniil Medvedev: “I’m disappointed because the atmosphere was great, but I couldn’t give the crowd what they deserved. I came from a complicated first round and this time I struggled a lot, especially with my serve, putting a very low percentage of firsts. I knew I would come in less trained than other times, because of the wrist problem that has held me back a bit recently.”

The Russian is among the favorites for the final victory: “He can adapt well to this surface because basically the conditions are quite fast. The more he is in trouble, the more he can counterattack. Today he was perfect, great credit to him. With his recovery qualities he can do well anywhere.”
