On the day of his 27th birthday, Matteo Berrettini gave an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport in which he also talked about the much-talked-about engagement to Melissa Satta: “Everyone is talking about it and seeing me around. On the one hand it’s positive because it means that tennis is among the most followed sports in Italy.”

“On the engagement I have a hard time answering,” the Roman continued, “I can’t conceive how a relationship can allow you not to do your job, but people talk. We live in the age of social media, where everyone can say everything, and it seems to me as if general politeness has been lost. I am happy in the end though, that’s what matters.”
