Bancarella Sports Prize 2023, great quality for the twenty semifinalist books

The twenty semifinalist books chosen by the jury of the Bancarella Sport 2023 literary prize have been announced. From these will be selected the six winners of the “Bancarella Sport Selection Prize” who will then compete for the main trophy.

Among the twenty works, all of which have profound ensemble qualities, stand out “The Price to Pay” by Stefano Tamburini, in which the author tells stories of rebellious women and men, thirty vicissitudes struggle for human and civil rights with sports as the background, “A Life on High” by Sara Simeoni (written together with Marco Franzelli), “A Child’s Play” by Bruno Conti (written together with Giammarco Menga), “Il tunnel perfetto” by Dario Costa (co-written with Biagio D’Angelo), “Le nuove guerre del calcio, gli affari delle corporation e la rivolta dei tifosi” by Marco Bellinazzo, and “Una squadra” by Domenico Procacci, the “twin” book of the documentary dedicated by the same author to the adventure of the national tennis team that won the 1976 Davis Cup.

The roll of honor includes such prominent writers, journalists and sports personalities as Cesare Bonacossa, Gianpaolo Ormezzano, Gino Bartali, Reinhold Messner, Gianni Brera, Aldo Santini, Michel Platini, Gelindo Bordin, Giorgio Terruzzi, Sandro Ciotti, and Enrico Brizzi. The 2022 edition was won by Marino Bartoletti with “Il ritorno degli dei” published by Gallucci.
