The words of Lorenzo Musetti

Lorenzo Musetti spoke after his incredible victory over Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo: “I am struggling to contain my tears. I cancelled a break ball at 5-4 after having two match-points, my hand was shaking for fear of winning. I’m so happy, I can’t describe what I’m feeling-I’m dreaming.”

“I am struggling not to cry, it was an emotional victory. Three hours of a very long match with rain suspension. I’m happy and proud of myself, I see the images on the screen and I’m struggling not to cry: it’s a dream for me. Fifteen breaks? I couldn’t find the right balance with the ball toss at the beginning, we were responding better than we were serving but the exchanges were long and intense. The match was tough physically and mentally, considering it was against Djokovic: it’s a very important one for me.”

Closing remark on the derby in the quarters against Jannik Sinner: “Tomorrow will be fun, I don’t want to think about it too much. I want to appreciate for at least half an hour this result. It will be necessary to rest before challenging a friend. I also want to wish Matteo Berrettini good luck, I’m sure he will be back soon to make the colors of Italy count.”
