Martina Trevisan imitates Camila Giorgi: Italy one point away from Finals
Trevisan beats Hruncakova, Italy-Slovakia 2-0
The Italian team engaged this weekend in Billie Jean King Cup wins its second point after as many matches against Slovakia: in fact, after Camila Giorgi’s success over Schmiedlova in the first match on Friday comes that of Martina Trevisan, who was able to impose herself, again at the NTC Arena in Bratislava, over Viktoria Hruncakova 7-6(9), 6-3.
The 29-year-old Italian suffered her opponent’s game in the first set but never lost a game on her own serve and managed to impose herself in a very long tie-break, which ended 11-9. The second fraction was less linear: Trevisan ahead 3-0, the Slovakian’s comeback up to 3-3 but in the decisive moment the tricolor athlete makes all the difference at ranking level (107 positions of distance between the two) count and ends up winning after winning three consecutive games.
Therefore, Italy is only one point away from qualifying: in case of an overall victory, the Azzurre will detach the ticket for the Finals, scheduled in the season finale.
